The reluctantly bashful Sakura is equipped with costumes for capturing Clow Cards by her best friend and number one fan, Tomoyo. Tomoyo custom designs and creates every costume she has Sakura wear. She puts all of her effort into every costume, because Sakura will be wearing them, after all.

None of Tomoyo's costumes are pointless. Aside from the aforementioned fact that she puts her all into them, she also keeps Sakura's dexterity in mind. If Tomoyo knows which card Sakura is going after, she'll better equip Sakura with the costume she makes her. For example, when Sakura went up against the Thunder Card, Tomoyo made that episode's costume out of nonconductable material. She also put cat ears on it, but everyone has the right to indulge, right? =)

The unique thing about costumes in Card Captor Sakura is that Sakura doesn't have an "official" one. She also doesn't use them for "disguise", because everyone knows putting on a tiara does not make you unrecognizable by those who know you. Tomoyo thinks Sakura is the cutest thing on this planet, and so she tapes her whenever she can and indulges by dressing up Sakura, making her even more cute. The costumes also make for beautiful, diverse artwork - giving Card Captor Sakura much appeal to more superficial anime fans (Not saying that's a bad thing!)
