In Japan, the word "manga" refers to "comic", as in comic book. However, like the word "anime", "manga" has taken a more specific meaning outside of Japan. In English-speaking countries especially, manga is understood as Japanese comic. Card Captor Sakura started in the monthly magazine, Nakayoshi, in June 1996. It has since then accumulated 12 volumes of manga, and has even become an anime.
