If you recognize this fluffy creature as a -very- special and important character from Magic Knight Rayearth, his purpose in TRC (and xxxHOLIC, for that matter) is a little different.

TRC's Mokona is one of the two Mokona=Modoki brothers (although siblings would be more appropriate, since both Mokonas are genderless), Soel - whose full name is really Mokona=Soel=Modoki, but is more popularly known as the White Mokona. The two were created by Clow Reed (read: TRC!Sakura's father, CCS!Syaoran's ancestor, creator of the Clow Cards, King of Clow Country) and Ichihara Yuko (the Dimensional Witch, East Witch, etc.), and were based off the creature Mokona (this is the Mokona from Magic Knight Rayearth). At the beginning of their lives, the two brothers were constantly getting into mischief, played repeatedly (especially with Cerberus and Yue, nonetheless!) and were all-around cute things. They were created very long ago to prepare for the journey that Syaoran and the others would be taking. The Mokona learned how to communicate with each other telepathically and to send/receive items to each other, as well, to further prepare them for what was to come.

Soel, more specifically, is the more energetic and hyper of the Mokona=Modoki. It has the power to cross dimensions and translate dialects into the native language of the listener/speaker. Mokona=Soel also senses the aura of Sakura's feathers within countries and helps the group detect them. Its ear piece and forehead jewel are red, and his ear piece pendant has the word "SIGIL" and the symbol for the mythical rune Sowilu embedded into it, symbolising he is the light balance between the Mokona=Modoki brothers (much like Cerberus is towards the Clow Guardian equilibrium).
