Wings suddenly emerge from the girl, taking flight...
"Sakura!"

A young man returns home and greets his father's photograph, telling him that his theories about the Clow Ruins were correct. He then turns to open the door, to a girl who suddenly jump-hugs him! It turns out that Princess Sakura, only heir to the throne of Clow Kingdom, had anticipated his -- Syaoran's -- return from one of his digs. The childhood friends, that met several years ago, began to reminisce about the past -- Syaoran and his father, a renowned archeologist, arriving in the Kingdom; the untimely death of Syaoran's father; Syaoran refusing to live amongst the royal family, and working as an archeologist himself, leaving Sakura lonely from time to time. Just as Sakura's about to confess her feelings to Syaoran, the castle bells ring, signaling for her to go home. As she leaves, Sakura tells him that she will definitely tell him one day, and Syaoran asks his father if his feelings for Sakura can even exist, because of their differences in social class.

Meanwhile, Sakura's just been spotted by her older brother, King Touya, sneaking back into the castle. Touya starts bothering Sakura about being with Syaoran, and pursues another argument with her. And, just in time, the High Priest, Yukito, comes to stop their dispute. Like Syaoran and Sakura, Yukito and Touya are also childhood friends. So, after Sakura storms off, the two talk about Sakura's hidden powers and Syaoran being "the destined one." Yukito also mentions how Sakura's powers are to bring adversity, and that her and Syaoran must work together to get through it.

Sakura resolves to confess her feelings to Syaoran the next day, then suddenly feels the Clow Ruins calling to her...

The next day, as Syaoran investigates a new symbol embedded in the Ruins' newly-discovered path, Sakura comes to invite him to lunch. She's seen the new symbol before -- as she touches it, she triggers a group of men to attack the palace and grows an identical set of wings. As a mysterious force pulls her in, Syaoran grabs Sakura and her wings' feather ascend into the sky. She's starting to get colder, and two people watching the event say that it's only the beginning to obtaining the ultimate powers of space and time.

As Touya fights off the intruders, Yukito rushes to Syaoran and Sakura's side. It seems that those feathers that flew away, are actually fragments of Sakura's heart -- and without them, she'd be in a lot worse trouble... So, Yukito sends them to the Dimensional Witch -- where Syaoran begs her to help Sakura.
