Syaoran has Chunyan stay behind and watch Sakura while the group ventures to the Ryanban's palace. Naturally, Chunyan finds this to be quite demeaning. She, more than anybody, would like to oust the Ryanban. She thinks it's because he finds her weak, but Sakura reassures her that isn't it. Syaoran did it to save her from punishment, should they fail.

At the Ryanban's palace, Kurogane forces open the outermost door. Alas, the group cannot go in since the perimeter of the palace is encapsulated by the Ryanban's impenetrable spell. Mokona, ever so diligently, jumps up and shouts "Throw it!" implying that Syaoran use the orb sent to him by Yuko against the spell. Syaoran obliges by throwing the orb straight into the palace. The Ryanban, watching Syaoran's every move through his magic sphere, shouts in disbelief as the spell is broken.

Once the group enters the palace, they find themselves caught in a never-ending hallway. Tired of walking in circles, Fay takes the initiative and places his hand up against a section of the wall, suggesting they try to go through it; apparently this is the source of the magic. Kurogane, in response, smashes through the brick. When the dust finally settles, a strange woman appears before them wearing an intricate headdress. "You have finally arrived...."
