Kiishimu holds the Ryanban's head in her hands. She seeks vengeance for being imprisoned in his palace. As she drags him through an oozing portal for some "royal treatment", she looks at Chunyan. She comments on her mother's abilities as a Shinban and says she is looking forward to the day when Chunyan becomes a powerful Shinban, perhaps even strong enough to rival Kiishimu herself! With Chunyan's assurance that she will become strong enough, Kiishimu bids the group farewell and closes her portal. The Ryanban's screams can be heard as the ooze spirals to a close.

As Kiishimu disappears, the sphere holding Sakura's feather shatters in Syaoran's hands. It then floats over to Sakura and enters her body. The memory of her birthday party returns. King Touya and Yukito are sitting before a table adorned with a plethora of foods. Amid all the lavishness and joviality is a distinguishably vacant chair. As Sakura comments on the delightfulness of the food to the empty chair, her happiness is visible through the reflection in her spoon. She is looking adoringly at the empty chair now, thanking the unseen sitter for attending. Being able to celebrate with the invisible attendee has made her incredibly happy and her party all the more meaningful. Twirling as her memory returns, Sakura falls into Syaoran's hands and dejectedly asks "Why... is no one there?"

In an unknown place, two figures speak of an object that was buried under the country of Clow as they watch Syaoran embrace Sakura. A large man comments on a power that can change the world, marveling at its growth. He says he has spent a long time trying obtain such a power, and as he places his hand on a vision of Sakura in Syaoran's arms, he proclaims he will have it in due time.

Outside, Chunyan thanks a healthy-looking Syaoran for ridding them of the Ryanban. Syaoran protests that he did not do anything, but thanks Chunyan for the medicine she gave him. Chunyan says the medicine was made by her mother, but she will work hard to learn how to become strong like her. With that, Mokona declares it is time to leave. Sprouting wings and jumping into the air, it begins to teleport the group. Chunyan shouts inquisitively, wondering where they're going. "There are still things we have to do," says Syaoran. He says goodbye and is gone within an instant. The townspeople conclude that they truly were the Amenosa. Ironically, at that moment the real Amenosa enter the village. They apologize for being late (apparently the Ryanban's magic was keeping them out of Ryonfi), and suggest that a new Ryanban be chosen. Chunyan cheerfully declares that they have no need for a Ryanban if all the villagers work together.

Meanwhile, the group overlooks a large lake surrounded by a dense forest. There are no signs of people, but Mokona detects a strong power in the lake. As Sakura sleeps, Syaoran dives in the lake to search for the feather. When Syaoran decides to take a break and warm up by the fire, Sakura wakes up and asks him about his search. She pleads that he let her help search, but he warmly refuses. The waters become frigid at night, and since she hasn't fully recovered she might not be able to bare all of that swimming. Accepting of his rationalism, she thanks him for his help. She then brings up the memory that was restored to her earlier. Upon mentioning her confusion with the empty chair, Syaoran instantly realizes that she truly won't remember him, as he was the one sitting in that very chair. Syaoran then picks up where her memory left off. He recalls her asking when his birthday was, though he could not remember. He mentions that he was found by his current father, and does not remember his past. Happily, Sakura decides that they should both share Sakura's birthdate - not remembering the past will be alright as long as Syaoran remembers the happy memories the two will share each year.

As Syaoran sighs in front of the fire, a disturbance shakes the surface of the lake. The lake is... shining!?
